Big games = money.

Lithuanian guys had expertise and they were able to create a playable demo (don't forget it wasn't their first attempt to do something), visit exhibition and find a publisher who had enough faith to put into unknown developer. They had a real target, real visibility of the demand and good skills.

Are there people in Latvia capable of doing big game? It's possible to create a team that will be able to do it. These people were involved in every game-related aspects - they are professionals, they know it does cost money and they wouldn't start doing it without a real target and without money upfront.

No detailed plan, no game design, no publisher = a journey into the darkness.

Vice versa.
Until you have a plan to do THE THING, you don't need a team.
If you have a team and you have no idea what to do, it'll be a useless effort - a lot of time spent floating "I want to do this or that?".

Download "Captain Claw" document.

If you don't have such deep understanding of the game, no matter how good the team would be - it will not help you. YOU NEED TO WRITE IT CLEARLY FOR EVERYONE.

There must be a strict target or goal. It could be big and when you see that you are doing the game for a year and it's only 50% done - then you could start feature-cutting it.

Nu un man ir ap 52 lpp. liels diz-doks racing geimam, kur ir aprakstīts viss no A līdz Z. Un so what? Tas nenozīmē ka man tagad apkārt baigi profesionālā komanda vai ka man tagad tādu būs vieglāk savākt. Kā gan, lai es tagad varu izplesties ārpus Latvijas un robežām, ja tur svešumā nevienu nepazīstu, bet organizēt normālu komandas darbu caur emailu vai IRC nav nopietni, ko tad darīt? emuLynx gaidu atbildi no tevis! Ja pareizi atceros, tad džeki no šīs kompānijas tagad strādā pie Skype.
Un imho viņi bija šīs kompānijas dibinātāji...
